Entry strategy into the Spanish gas market

Zelya Energy advised a European energy group on its strategy to enter the Spanish gas market. The mandate was to design a coherent and ambitious approach aimed at securing strategic capacities to support and accelerate the client's commercial development.

The plan covered the implementation of a strategic framework and an organisational structure for a new entrant in the Spanish gas market — including the analysis of the local regulatory environment.

The strategy was structured around four pillars:

  • Description and analysis of the regulatory framework
  • Quantification and anticipation of flows and infrastructure extensions
  • Definition of strategic options for market entry
  • Implementation of the business plan and proposed organisational structure for the new Spanish entity

Similar work was carried out for the French market, integrated into a global strategy. The result enabled the planning of strategic milestones and the assessment of financing and capitalisation stages.

This engagement is part of our broader gas market studies and regulation practice, integrated within our cross-sector energy advisory services.
