Client: A European wind farm operator · Sector: Wind · Mandate: Performance audit and optimisation

This advisory mission is representative of similar engagements aiming to:
Context and objective
The first step of our mission was to understand in detail the wind farm and its technical specifics, focusing the audit and recommendations on the areas with the greatest impact on operational performance.
Technical audit on the actual availability of wind turbines
Using a proven methodology and precise data, we conducted a detailed technical audit of the actual availability of the wind turbines — analysing the evolution of availability rates and searching for the root causes of technical failures.
Estimation of impact on output, revenue and reinvestment needs
Beyond the technical audit, we estimated the impact of failures on energy production, revenue, and reinvestment needs — including a detailed analysis of the initial maintenance and warranty contract, plus a simulation of energy production losses and potential financial penalties.
Technical and contractual recommendations
We delivered concrete recommendations on technical and contractual solutions to minimise the impact of future failures, including a reinvestment optimisation strategy and clauses to include in new maintenance contracts. The mission also led to a renegotiation of insurance policies, ensuring better consistency with the maintenance warranties and the age of the installation.
This engagement is part of our wind farm advisory practice and our wind turbine technical audits, integrated within our cross-sector energy and renewable asset due diligence services.
